TL;DR

Frank Beard, ZZ Top’s longtime drummer for 56 years, died at 77 in hospice at his Texas ranch after health issues that led the band to cancel a Hollywood Bowl show. Beard joined ZZ Top in 1969, forming the core lineup with Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill (who died in 2021). Elwood Francis has filled in on bass, and ZZ Top plans to resume touring with a fill-in drummer.
