The US State Department has denounced Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters' recent performances in Germany as antisemitic, citing his "long track record of using antisemitic tropes" and a concert that "contained imagery that is deeply offensive to Jewish people and minimized the Holocaust." Waters appeared on stage in a costume reminiscent of Nazi-era Germany, firing an imitation machine gun while dressed in a long black coat with a red armband. He has rejected accusations of glorifying Nazi rule, saying his performance was a statement against fascism, injustice, and bigotry. Waters has also drawn criticism for his support of the BDS movement.
