ABC Extends Two Hit Dramas: The Rookie and Will Trent

ABC has renewed The Rookie for a ninth season and Will Trent for a fifth, with both shows currently airing new seasons and slated to wrap up in early May. The renewals follow ABC’s spate of primetime renewals (9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville, High Potential, Grey’s Anatomy, Abbott Elementary), while freshman R.J. Decker and the sophomore comedy Shifting Gears are still waiting for word. The network previously shot a pilot for a Rookie offshoot, The Rookie: North, but no pickup was announced at press time.
