Bloodaxe: Hirst’s New Medieval Epic Dives into Erik Bloodaxe’s World

Vikings creator Michael Hirst previews Bloodaxe, a new 10th‑century historical drama centered on Erik Bloodaxe, Gunnhild, and Egil, blending brutal power struggles with magical realism. The first season focuses on Erik vs. Haakon, with Egil as the fearless poet; Hirst aims for a fresh world distinct from Vikings and hints at future projects like a Montaillou‑inspired story.
