Netflix Axes The Boroughs After One Season
TL;DR
Deadline reports Netflix canceled The Boroughs after one season despite strong reviews and a high-profile cast (Molina, Davis, Woodard, O’Hare, Peters, Pullman). The sci‑fi drama opened with about 5.6M views, rose to 9.5M in its first full week, then fell to 3.7M, leading to a renewal reconsideration given the show’s high production costs. A Season 2 writers room had been opened and there was talk of back‑to‑back Seasons 2 and 3, but no renewal was issued. The Duffers’ project slate elsewhere (and a move to Paramount) contextualizes Netflix’s decision.
