TL;DR

Nigella Lawson is set to judge The Great British Bake Off’s 17th series, replacing Prue Leith who stepped down after nine seasons. Lawson will sit alongside Paul Hollywood; Leith welcomed her successor and Lawson called the show a national treasure. The shift comes as Channel 4’s Bake Off has seen ratings slip from its BBC One peak, though season 16 began with about 7.26 million viewers for its first episode.
