"Peanuts' Franklin: A Long Overdue Spotlight on a Black Character"
TL;DR
Peanuts introduces a new special on Apple TV+ called "Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin" in an attempt to address the controversial character of Franklin, the first Black character introduced by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz. The special delves into Franklin's backstory and attempts to rectify the tokenism associated with his character, but is criticized for its thin plot and lack of depth in addressing the complex issues of representation and racial dynamics.
