Fresh Faces Lead Spring Awakening Revival Off-Broadway

Off-Broadway revival of Spring Awakening has Ashlyn Maddox as Wendla, Tyler Jordan Wesley as Melchior, Ryo Kamibayashi as Moritz, and Amalia Yoo as Ilse, joined by a cast including Jack Bateman, Jada Simone Clark, Leif Coomer, Nando Morland, Antonio Porciello, Khadija Sankoh and Grace Slear; previews begin Nov. 27 with opening night Dec. 17 at Studio Seaview. Directed by Tony winner Danya Taymor, with choreography by Celia Rowlson-Hall and music supervision by Or Matias, the production marks a new generation of performers selected from a July open casting call that drew 2,532 auditions. The revival continues the show’s controversial, contemporary-rock score about adolescence, desire and repression, following its Broadway debut in 2006 and a Deaf West revival in 2015.
