Unveiling the Uniqueness of 'Lawmen: Bass Reeves' in the Taylor Sheridan Universe
TL;DR
The Paramount+ miniseries "Lawmen: Bass Reeves" explores the story of Bass Reeves, a Black frontier lawman, played by David Oyelowo. The show delves into Reeves' internal conflicts as he strives to serve justice while working alongside racists and against the marginalized people he wants to help. The series, created by Chad Feehan and executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, offers a heavy and dark tone, focusing on big themes of humanity, God, and freedom. While lacking some excitement, Oyelowo's performance adds gravity to the character.
