TL;DR

In the Christmas special episode "On a Wing and a Prayer," James is torn between RAF training and being with his pregnant wife, Helen. Meanwhile, at Skeldale, Helen goes into labor during a snowstorm, and the men offer comical support. James fixes a bird mascot for the RAF and rushes back to Darrowby to find Helen has given birth to a boy. The episode ends with the family together, except for Tristan, leaving viewers with a cozy and heartwarming conclusion to the season.
