Former Miss North Carolina USA Brittany Boltinhouse has filed a defamation lawsuit accusing pageant producers and Miss USA president Thom Brodeur of coordinating a false public narrative that smeared her as racist and bigoted in order to hide the real, politically conservative reasons for her dethronement; the suit follows her removal after past social-media posts surfaced and Myla Hadley took the crown.
