Key Highlights from King Charles III's Coronation Ceremony.
TL;DR
Thousands of picnics and street parties were held across the UK as part of the Big Lunch tradition to celebrate King Charles III's coronation, despite criticism over the cost and waning support for the monarchy. The king and Queen Camilla did not attend any of the luncheons but planned to attend a concert featuring Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Take That. Protests against the monarchy and fossil fuels resulted in over 50 arrests, including Republic leader Graham Smith. The Metropolitan Police defended their actions, citing the coronation as a once-in-a-generation event.
