Surge in West Nile Virus Cases Reported in Ohio and Washington State

Health officials in Cincinnati have detected an increase in West Nile Virus in mosquitoes, with seven pools of mosquitoes testing positive so far in 2023. No cases of human infection have been reported since 2015, but officials are urging residents to take precautionary measures such as avoiding outdoor activities during peak mosquito hours, using insect repellent, wearing protective clothing, and eliminating standing water around homes.
