"Underutilization of Lifesaving HIV Drug in Alabama Revealed by Study"

A study in Alabama found that many women, particularly black women, are not using the HIV prevention drug PrEP due to stigma and lack of awareness. The study revealed that access to health insurance, providers, and transportation were barriers, despite the drug being available at a low cost. Stigma and mistrust of health providers were reported as major obstacles, highlighting the need for community education about PrEP to overcome these challenges and empower women to take control of their own HIV prevention.
