Six NH towns report Jamestown Canyon Virus in mosquitoes

State health officials say mosquitoes collected in Derry, Hampton, Salem, Exeter, Kingston and Fremont tested positive for Jamestown Canyon Virus (JCV). The virus is transmitted by mosquitoes; symptoms can include fever, headache, or fatigue and, in rare cases, more severe illness. There is no vaccine or specific treatment, so residents should use standard mosquito bite prevention measures.
