Fatal Crash Involving APD Officer Shuts Down Highway 183 in Northwest Austin

One person has died and an Austin police officer has been injured in a crash on Highway 183 in north Austin. The crash involved an on-duty APD officer and another driver, resulting in serious injuries to the civilian driver who was pronounced dead at the scene. The APD Vehicular Homicide Unit will investigate the incident, while the APD Internal Affairs unit will review the investigation. All lanes of US HWY 183 NB are currently closed.
