Virginia Implements New Laws on July 1: Headlight Modifications, Cannabis, and Move-Over Regulations

Virginia will implement a new law starting July 1 that prohibits the installation of aftermarket modifications causing headlights to appear as blue lights on cars, motorcycles, bicycles, mopeds, and other vehicles. The law aims to prevent discomfort and visibility issues caused by glare for drivers approaching vehicles with blue headlights at night. Headlights for motorcycles and autocycles must also comply with regulations to avoid projecting glaring or dazzling lights. The ban does not apply to headlights approved by the Virginia State Police superintendent.
