Elizabeth Holmes begins 11-year prison term amidst inmate curiosity.

Elizabeth Holmes, former CEO of Theranos, is set to begin serving her 11-year prison sentence for defrauding investors with false claims about her blood-testing company. Holmes' lawyers attempted to delay her sentence, but the Ninth Circuit of Appeals denied her request. She can still appeal her case, but will have to do so from prison. Holmes' downfall was set in motion by journalist John Carreyrou, who wrote a series of stories for The Wall Street Journal on Theranos beginning in 2015. Holmes' ex-partner and No. 2 at Theranos, Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani, was also convicted and sentenced to 13 years in federal prison.
