Ohio's Marijuana Dilemma: Legal Possession, Limited Access

Adults in Ohio can now legally possess and grow marijuana at home, but there is currently no legal way to purchase it. Lawmakers failed to pass legislation to establish a system for legal marijuana sales before the law took effect. Republican Governor Mike DeWine expressed concerns about the potential for black market sales and the accessibility of potentially dangerous marijuana products. The citizen-initiated statute allows adults to possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis and grow up to six plants per individual or 12 plants per household. The state has nine months to set up a system for legal purchases subject to a 10% tax.
