TikTok's Battle for Survival in the US Continues.

TikTok has hired Ankit Desai, a former aide to President Biden, to lobby on "regulation of content platforms" as the social media platform faces a potential US ban due to data privacy and national security concerns related to its links to the Chinese government. TikTok has already amassed a large roster of lobbyists with close ties to Biden and congressional leaders, including Jamal Brown, national press secretary for Biden's 2020 campaign, and consulting firm SKDK, whose founder is currently serving as a senior adviser to the president. Lawmakers grilled TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew for roughly five hours on Thursday, but few appeared convinced by his remarks that TikTok does not answer to the Chinese government and that it is designing a plan to have data stored with US software company Oracle.
