TurboTax settlement distributes $141M to millions of low-income users.

Intuit will pay a $141 million settlement to 4.4 million Americans who were deceived by false claims of free tax services. More than 122,000 Michiganders will receive a total of $3.5 million by the end of the month. The settlement was announced last year after Intuit agreed to suspend its ad campaign for TurboTax promising free tax-filing assistance. The investigation was launched following a 2019 report claiming it charged low-income taxpayers for services that should have been free.
