James Meredith, Civil Rights Icon, Urges People to Fight Crime by Following Ten Commandments on 90th Birthday

Civil rights icon James Meredith, who integrated the University of Mississippi in 1962, celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday and urged people to obey the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule to reduce crime. Meredith had planned to walk 200 miles in Mississippi to spread his anti-crime message, but instead made a series of appearances in recent weeks. During an event honoring him at the Mississippi Capitol, Meredith fell while trying to stand and speak, but suffered no visible injuries.
