Court blocks Trump’s bid to curb birthright citizenship

A federal judge blocked President Trump’s August executive order aimed at limiting birthright citizenship, saying the issue is already settled by the Supreme Court and that no presidential action can undo that precedent. Judge Deborah L. Boardman called the move “almost certainly unconstitutional” in light of a June Supreme Court ruling affirming birthright citizenship for nearly everyone born in the United States, and noted the order targeted groups such as the children of foreign lobbyists and “alien enemies.”
