EPA to Safely Demolish Highview Home with Hazardous Materials

The EPA will conduct a controlled mechanical demolition of a home in Highview, Louisville, where explosives were found in July. The process will involve removing the roof and walls of the home, along with the debris, which will be placed in a steel container for disposal. The cleanup is scheduled to begin in October and may take up to a month. Security, air monitors, and first responders will be present during the process, and an emergency evacuation plan is being finalized. The other property where explosives were found will not be demolished. The man arrested in connection to the incident, Marc Hibel, is facing charges of wanton endangerment and burglary.
