Alleged slam and punch: Arkansas teen sues state trooper over traffic stop

An 18-year-old Black woman, Alisa Hackett, filed a federal lawsuit against Arkansas State Police trooper Moisses Arellano, alleging he slammed her to the ground and punched her in the face during an Aug. 1 traffic stop in Mississippi County; Hackett, who was unarmed and not a threat, says she complied to no threat yet was struck after objecting and resisting handcuffing, per the lawsuit and the trooper’s report, which notes a closed-fist strike after she allegedly threw a clipboard and refused to roll over. Hackett was booked on several minor charges the next day; attorney Benjamin Crump is calling for a use-of-force investigation. ASP has not commented.
