California's First Fentanyl Murder Conviction Results in 15-Year Prison Sentence

Nathaniel Cabacungan, the first person to be convicted of fentanyl-related murder in California, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the second-degree murder of a teenage girl. Cabacungan was also sentenced to nine concurrent years for distributing narcotics to a minor. The sentencing marks a significant step in holding fentanyl dealers accountable, according to Placer County District Attorney Morgan Gire. The victim's mother expressed hope that the conviction would raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and save lives.
