Child and Teen Shot in Separate Incidents in Detroit and Memphis, Police Investigate

A 5-year-old boy was shot in the hand in an accidental shooting at his home in Detroit. The police have the person they believe is responsible for the weapon in custody. The child is currently in surgery but is expected to recover. Detroit Police Chief James White emphasized the importance of gun safety and said that 18 kids have been shot so far this year by their own hands or someone else's. The police are investigating the crime scene and getting a search warrant to recover the weapon.
