Child dies from Benadryl overdose, parents charged.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of a 6-year-old boy in Greer, South Carolina, who died after being given a fatal dose of Benadryl. The child's guardians initially claimed he fell out of a recliner and hit his head, but an investigation revealed he was living in filthy conditions and had been the subject of previous child abuse referrals. The toxicology report showed the child had enough Benadryl in his system to kill an adult man. The guardians admitted to giving the child Benadryl because he was hyperactive. One suspect has been charged with homicide by child abuse and unlawful neglect of a child, while the other has been charged with unlawful neglect of a child.
