Columbia Police Respond to Multiple Shootings and Standoffs.

Police used gas and exchanged gunfire with a suspect in a south Columbia shooting who is believed to be holding hostages in an apartment complex. The suspect is known to people in the complex and has refused medical attention. The victim of the shooting, Janet L. Jago, died from her injuries. Police have identified the suspect but have not released his name. Crisis negotiators are attempting to get the suspect to surrender.
