"Dad's Fleeing of Fatal Car Crash Leaves Oklahoma Community in Shock"

An Oklahoma father, Elliott Binney, allegedly fled the scene after crashing his car, leaving his injured wife and children behind, including his 16-year-old daughter, Shelby, who later died from her injuries. Binney was charged with leaving the scene of a collision resulting in death, first-degree manslaughter, and other charges. Police found a bottle of vodka and pill bottles with labels ripped off in his car, and he admitted to drinking before the crash. Binney was tracked down and arrested the next day, and had previously been convicted on larceny and assault charges. Shelby, a high school sophomore and cheerleader, was remembered as a "bright light" with a "heart of gold."
