Decades-long fugitive finally sentenced to 50 years for murder

Donald Santini, a fugitive who evaded authorities for nearly 40 years in San Diego County, has taken a plea deal in connection to a Florida murder case from the 1980s. The plea deal includes 50 years in prison and 15 years of probation. Santini was arrested in June near San Diego and extradited back to Florida, where he had been wanted on a first-degree murder charge since 1984. The case involves the killing of a 33-year-old woman named Cynthia Ruth Wood, whose body was found in a water-filled ditch. Santini confirmed his identity in court and was living in California under a different name.
