A Detroit police officer, Juwan Marquise-Alexander Brown, has been charged with manslaughter for fatally punching a 71-year-old man, Daryl Vance, during a confrontation outside a bowling alley. The officer has been fired by the Detroit Police Department. Surveillance footage showed the officer striking Vance in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head. Vance died three weeks later from blunt force trauma to the head. The Wayne County prosecutor stated that the officer's actions went criminally beyond what was necessary in the situation, and the police department has terminated his employment.
