Detroit Police Unveil 12-Point Safety Plan to Combat Downtown Violence.

Detroit police have announced a 12-point plan to control crowds and crack down on curfew violations, illegal weapon possession, and public intoxication after a security guard was shot dead in Greektown. The plan includes increasing police presence, deploying mid-summer police units, community education, curfew enforcement, strategic and timed vehicular shutdowns, business inspections, increased lighting, an Eagle Eye Hotline, video wall monitors, public alcohol consumption ordinance enforcement, noise ordinance enforcement, and a Rewards TV campaign on illegal weapons and ATVs. Vigils are planned to honor the life of the security guard, Daryll Straughter.
