Ex-wife reveals Gilgo Beach killer confessed to eight murders in home basement

A new Peacock documentary claims Rex Heuermann told his ex-wife, Asa Ellerup, that he killed eight women, and he later pled guilty to seven murders in a 17-year spree, acknowledging one additional uncharged murder. Victims include the Gilgo Four (Amber Costello, Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, Maureen Brainard-Barnes) and others; investigators found a soundproof vault-like room, hundreds of guns, and kill plans at his Massapequa home. Heuermann faces life sentences at a June 17 hearing. The revelations accompany The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets, which airs its finale on Peacock.
