Former CSUF Employee Sentenced to Life for Killing Boss to Conceal Embezzlement Scheme

Former Cal State Fullerton employee, Chris Chuyen Vo, has been sentenced to life without parole for the murder of another CSUF employee. Vo pleaded guilty to two charges of murder and embezzlement. He will be held at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The sentencing comes after a four-year legal process that included multiple delays. Vo's attorney stated that his client chose to plead guilty to spare both families the pain of a jury trial. A restitution hearing will be held in December to determine the amount Vo will have to pay as compensation to the victim's family. The murder occurred in August 2019, and investigators found evidence linking Vo to the crime, including security footage and a backpack containing incriminating items. Prosecutors alleged that Vo committed the murder to avoid being discovered for embezzling over $200,000.
