Former Wheatland-Chili Teacher Arrested for Sexual Abuse

A former substitute teacher in the Wheatland-Chili Central School District, Robert Petit, has been charged with multiple counts of first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly touching three elementary students inappropriately. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office expressed frustration over the lengthy grand jury process, which delayed public notification for over a year. Petit is currently held on $500,000 bail, with his next court date set for August 2024.
