Inmate's Daring Escape Caught on Video

Surveillance video captures the disturbing moment an inmate in Indiana strangles Deputy John Durm to death using the waist chain on his handcuffs before escaping in a jail transport van. The video shows the inmate taking keys from the deputy, unlocking the handcuffs, and driving the van through security gates. Despite a crash and subsequent recapture, the incident raises questions about how the inmate was able to partially free himself from his belly chain. The Marion County Sheriff's Office maintains that the equipment was used properly and that the blame lies solely with the inmate.
