Jan. 6 Capitol Rioter Sentenced to 5 Years for Attacking Police and Photographer

Rodney Milstreed, a Maryland man involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, has been sentenced to five years in prison for assaulting a police officer and possessing an illegal firearm. Milstreed attacked police lines, threw a smoke grenade, and hit an officer with a flag pole, causing a concussion. He also attacked an AP photographer, throwing them down a flight of stairs. Milstreed expressed remorse during his sentencing, but had previously celebrated his participation in the riot on social media. Over 1,100 people have been charged in connection with the Jan. 6 events, with over 650 already sentenced.
