Joran van der Sloot to be transferred to US despite legal challenges

Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba, is likely to be transferred to the United States despite last-minute efforts by his lawyer to keep him in Peru. Van der Sloot is being held in a Peruvian prison for the murder of Stephany Flores in 2010. His lawyer has filed a habeas corpus petition against the Peruvian government, but an Interpol official believes the extradition will still happen as planned on Thursday. Beth Holloway, Natalee's mother, said the transfer gives a chance for justice to finally be served.
