Joran van der Sloot's extradition to US challenged by lawyer in Peru.

Joran van der Sloot, the main suspect in the 2005 disappearance of American student Natalee Holloway, plans to challenge his extradition to the United States, according to his lawyer. The Peruvian government had confirmed the extradition would take place on Thursday. Van der Sloot was serving a 28-year sentence for the murder of a Peruvian woman when the government announced it would temporarily transfer custody to the US to face trial on extortion and wire fraud charges. Holloway went missing during a trip to Aruba in 2005 and was last seen leaving a bar with van der Sloot.
