Kansas Couple Hid Dead Man's Body for 6 Years to Collect Retirement Funds

A Kansas couple has been charged with fraudulently collecting over $215,000 in retirement benefits on behalf of a deceased relative while concealing his body in their home for six years. Authorities discovered the body in 2022 after a call from the deceased's son-in-law. The couple continued to deposit and spend from the deceased's bank account while his body remained in the home. They are due to appear in federal court to face several charges, and prosecutors say the pension and Social Security payments received after his death totaled over $216,000.
