Kentucky woman charged with fatally shooting Texas Uber driver in mistaken kidnapping belief

Phoebe Copas, a Kentucky woman, has been charged with murder after fatally shooting her Uber driver, Daniel Piedra Garcia, in El Paso, Texas. Copas claimed she believed she was being kidnapped and taken to Mexico, but police say the investigation does not support this. Copas is being held on a $1.5 million bond and was originally charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. Piedra was hospitalized for several days before his family took him off life support after doctors told them he would not recover.
