Lake Mead's Decades-Old Drowning Mystery Solved with Body Discovery.

Human remains found on the shoreline of Lake Mead in October 2021 have been identified as those of Donald P. Smith, a North Las Vegas man who drowned in the Colorado River reservoir in April 1974. The identification was made through DNA, and his death has been ruled accidental. Other remains found at the lake are still being identified, including those of a man who was shot in the head and stuffed into a barrel found in May 2022.
