Lily Peters' cousin sentenced to life in prison after guilty plea

Carson Peters-Berger, Lily Peters’ now-18-year-old cousin, pleaded guilty to first-degree intentional homicide in Chippewa County, Wisconsin, and was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of extended supervision after 25 years; a plea deal dropped two related sexual-assault charges, and he was ordered to pay more than $30,000 in restitution. Prosecutors said Peters-Berger killed 10-year-old Lily in 2022 during a visit to Chippewa Falls, attacked her, and attempted to hide her body, after which he was arrested at age 14 and has now received credit for four years already served.
