Maine restaurant receives $3 million fentanyl shipment instead of mugs

A shipment of what is suspected to be 31 pounds of fentanyl, worth an estimated $3 million, was mistakenly delivered to a Maine restaurant. The crate was addressed to the restaurant but had the name of someone who did not work there. The man whose name was on the shipment was arrested when he came looking for the crate. Jeremy Mercier, 41, of Auburn, was charged with drug offenses and for violating bail conditions. He had previously spent time behind bars on a 2007 federal drug conviction. The investigation is ongoing, and state and federal law enforcement are expected to get involved.
