"Major Development Expected in Gilgo Beach Serial-Murder Case as Suspect Faces Fourth Killing Charge"

After 13 years, the Gilgo Beach murder investigation made a breakthrough when DNA evidence from pizza crusts linked Rex Heuermann to four bodies found in 2010 on Long Island. Prosecutors have charged him with three of the killings and are expected to charge him in connection with the fourth body. The DNA profile obtained from a male hair found on the burlap used to wrap one of the victims corresponds to the pizza slice sample from Mr. Heuermann. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail at a Suffolk County jail.
