Man Charged with Murder After Girlfriend's Hospital Death Leads to Police Chase and Suicide Attempt

A man has been charged with murder after his girlfriend was found unresponsive at a home in southeast Charlotte and later died at a hospital. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Nataly Martinez, was taken to the hospital with a "life-threatening condition," and police determined that her boyfriend, 25-year-old Freddy Renteria, caused her condition. Renteria was arrested with the help of the Mississippi Highway Patrol and remains hospitalized. The preliminary autopsy revealed that Martinez's death was a homicide, and anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the authorities.
