Maryland AG report reveals widespread sexual abuse of children by Baltimore's Catholic Church.

Maryland's Attorney General has accused Catholic Church officials in Baltimore of covering up the sexual abuse of over 600 children by 156 people over 60 years. The abuse was so pervasive that it wasn't uncommon for a young victim to be targeted by more than one adult. The Church's hierarchy refused to acknowledge allegations of child sexual abuse for as long as possible, and when denial became impossible, Church leadership would remove abusers from the parish or school, sometimes with promises that they would have no further contact with children. The Archdiocese was more concerned with avoiding scandal and negative publicity than it was with protecting children.
