"Medical Examiner Rules Infant's Decapitation During Birth a Homicide"

The death of a baby who was decapitated during birth at a Georgia hospital has been ruled a homicide, caused by the "actions of another person" during a complicated birth. The parents filed a lawsuit alleging that a doctor's delayed cesarean section caused the decapitation and that the hospital staff mishandled the situation. The hospital denies the allegations and states that the doctor is not an employee. The medical examiner's office also cited pregnancy-induced diabetes and premature rupture of membranes as contributing factors to the newborn's death. It will be up to the district attorney to decide whether formal charges will be filed in the homicide investigation.
