Mexico's Capture of 'El Nini': Blow to Sinaloa Cartel's Security Leadership

Mexican authorities have captured Nestor Isidro Perez Salas, also known as "El Nini," who is accused of being the security boss for the Sinaloa Cartel faction led by the sons of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman. Perez Salas, considered one of the most ruthless drug figures by U.S. anti-narcotics agents, was apprehended in Culiacan and taken to Mexico City. He faces multiple charges, including drug trafficking conspiracy and possession of machine guns. The capture comes shortly after a meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, where they discussed combating organized crime and addressing the opioid epidemic.
